Charles Founded CICL in 2009 to accelerate the commercialization of innovation.   Charles has visited over 1000 innovative companies in Israel since 2005 and he is well connected into more than 100 Fortune 500 Companies and many Corporate VC’s.  Charles has spent 40 years studying comparative competitive advantage and visiting thousands of companies, starting his investment career at Donaldson Lufkin & Jenrette in 1977.

 

He worked for the Chief Market Analyst at Merrill Lynch and as a Senior Market Specialist in their Market Analysis Department 1978-1981.  In 1981, he joined Ganz Capital Management, which he built into a highly-ranked investment advisor 1987-1993 by CDA, before selling GCM to Mellon Bank (now BNY Mellon) in 1997 to become Vice Chairman and Chief Investment Officer of Mellon Private Trust Company NA, building Mellon Florida into the fastest growing business in Mellon.   He Co-founded Financial Independence Trust 1985-1989, where he managed three mutual funds until selling his ownership interest in 1989.  Mr. Ganz has served as an advisor, board member, consultant to Safeguard Scientifics, TL Ventures International Advisory Board, the Estee Lauder Companies Fiduciary Investment Committee.  

 

Charles has been in leadership positions within the Jewish community, volunteering more than 20,000 hours. Mr. Ganz currently sits on the Advisory Board of Tera Group, Correlata Solutions Ltd., and MMuze Ltd.

Prithu has defined and differentiated markets around the world for accelerated ROI using media, whitepapers, campaigns, unsolicited proposals, and marketing.  Evidence-based, and results-driven professional, Prithu offers more than twenty-five years of setting roadmaps and corporate direction in defense, cyber-based communications, covert cellular communications and critical resilient infrastructure.

A deep understanding of IoT, Cellular, and Cybersecurity for individuals and infrastructure has been gained and complimented with a strong understanding with the importance and differences in the different types of communication that can be leveraged by commercial, military, private and public communication systems for different situational environments and responses nationally and globally.

Before Redline Communications, he was with General Dynamics where he started the Global Public Safety Practice. Before that, he was with Bell Mobility where he took the company from CDMA to LTE and then deployed a LTE centric M2M network that was optimized for IoT nationally. Prithu has worked in Asia, Europe and the Americas. Among other awards, he holds advanced engineering and marketing degrees from the UK and is a Chartered Engineer, Chartered Manager, and Professional Engineer in Ontario. 

 

Prithu Prakash is on the Board of Advisors of FernHill, BRIC, NCART and Video Latitude. He is currently advising Ryerson University in building a Cyber Security Center of Excellence in Toronto.

Before recently founding the h&k Ventures - Silicon Valley in Feb 2019, Hakan Kostepen was an Executive Director at Panasonic Silicon Valley Center in Mountain View, CA and responsible for Product Planning Strategy & Innovation for Panasonic Automotive Systems Company of America, where he led the “emerging” Connectivity Methodologies/Technologies and Connected Lifestyle Strategy & Innovation Concepts around Internet of Things & Mobility 4.0.

 

Mr. Kostepen has broad Systems & Software Engineering and Advanced Product Development experience with Panasonic, Ford Motor Company, EDS, and US Air Force for “Real-Time” Embedded Systems Applications and Advanced Software Development around connected – mobility platforms with many patents and published papers.

 

Mr. Kostepen is MIT Sloan Business School Executive Strategy & Innovation program graduate and has following degrees: University of North Dakota MSEE, US Air Force – CMU MSA, and Istanbul Technical University BSEE.

Keith is a Founder and Managing Partner of Guardian Insight Group, a Technology Risk advisory firm dedicated to identifying, assessing, controlling, and mitigating risks associated with doing business between clients and their third parties.

 

Previously, Keith was the Managing Director/Head of Third-Party Risk Management for the Mitsubishi Financial Group (MUFG) and was responsible for ensuring that the Bank had the proper framework, policies and controls to meet regulatory standards for effective oversight of third parties/vendors. Keith also did corporate development for CISCO, HP, Intuit and has been involved in all aspects of merger, acquisitions, integration, divestitures and Start-ups.

 

Keith is also the creator and Host of the “Silicon Valley Insider” Radio show and Podcast on 1220AM KDOW Silicon Valley/San Francisco. Keith has interviewed C-Level executives from Fortune 100, government officials as well as "unicorns" all in the context of innovation, disruption and the risks associated with doing business to achieve optimal business outcomes.

 

At CICL, Keith focuses on emerging technology such as fintechinsurtechblockchain, IoT, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity. His passion is to be a bridge for companies navigating digital transformation between legacy and new technology.

Nolan has consulted for, launched and developed a number of start-up technology companies, products and brands in the UK and Europe over the past 20 years, selling this technology into major Retailers, E-tailers, Distributors, Hospitality, Manufacturing and directly to B2B and B2C customers across the UK & Europe.

His experience is across Consumer Electronics, Enterprise Software, Telecoms, Manufacturing & FMCG markets. From March 2015 to May 2019, he was the Managing Director of the European subsidiary of a Hong Kong based smartphones manufacturer.

Nolan’s background is in engineering. He has a Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Imperial College London and over 6 years’ experience selling high tech manufacturing and materials testing technologies, winning and managing major procurement projects into automotive, aerospace, defence, government departments, motorsport & universities.

Dr. Ulriech has over 40 years experience in medical, administrative and business.  

 

Dr. Ulreich is a Radiologist practicing at The Hospital of Central Connecticut in New Britain CT.  He was former Chief of the Department of Radiology and President of New Britain Radiological Associates. He has had extensive experience in hospital administration serving on numerous hospital committees and statewide medical organizations.

 

He was a faculty member in the Departments of Radiology at Yale and the University of Connecticut.  Currently, he is a Fellow of the American College of Radiology and has served as a Fellow at Sg2 Consulting. Dr. Ulreich is a member of the RSNA and American College of Radiology serving on several national committees.

Peter brings 25 years of executive management, marketing & sales experience in cyber, telecommunications, in emerging technologies and network.  He provides business development, sales & channel management strategies, marketing, PR and general advice with a focus on Dark Web, Deep Learning, AI and Access Solutions.

 

Among the positions he has held are Chief Marketing Officer & EVP of Sales for zero-touch provisioning telecommunication equipment vendor, President & CEO of a cloud-based secure eDelivery startup and Executive Vice President of TSX listed Telecom Company where he helped turn the company into “TSX Stock of the Year”.

 

He had successfully bid & won Verizon RFP for remote central office flow-through provisioning solution that generated contract value in excess of $100mm; successfully bid and won BellSouth RFP for central office automated cross-connect systems that generated revenues in excess of $15mm; signed $26mm agreement with tier-1 US CLEC for shared central office automated flow through provisioning solution; inventor of 3 Patents issued by the USPTO for a Certified Email System and recipient of the Frost & Sullivan 2014 Global Document e-Delivery New Product Innovation Leadership Award.

An entrepreneurial, creative, driven individual with vast experience in building and developing companies throughout the different stages of their business.  At CICL she manages all marketing initiatives and is actively involved in mapping and matching innovative capabilities and companies to corporate partners.  Cinthya also manages some of the firm’s distribution relationships in Latin America.  

 

Cinthya brings strong leadership, the ability to translate vision and strategy into tactics, understanding of the different aspects of a business and the know-how in leading complex projects and strategic initiatives with multi-disciplinary and multi-national teams. 

 

She founded and leads a marketing and business development agency in the US, and previously built a software company in Israel with over 120 employees in 4 countries that almost sold to Microsoft in 2002.

 

Cinthya has worked and lived in Israel, Latin America and the USA.  She holds a MSc. from the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology. Mrs. Bigio-Poreh was selected to work as an advisor on the Nobel Laureate Conference for Science and Technology in Israel to in 2015.   She speaks English, Spanish and Hebrew fluently.

Prof. Dr. Michael Rossbach is a seasoned life and health sciences professional, with expertise in diagnostics, cell-based therapeutics, neuroscience and genomics. Michael holds academic appointments at the National University of Singapore (NUS), at the German Institute of Science and Technology (TUM Asia) in Singapore (Biochemistry, Cell biology, and Bioorganic Chemistry), at INSEAD Management School (Entrepreneur-in- Residence) and he is Prof. and a member of the Faculty of the Witten School of Management (Germany).

Since August 2019, Michael joined the Eppendorf Group as the Head of Technology Scouting. Prior to that, from 2016 on, Michael was the VP Global Pharma Partnering of Vela Diagnostics (Singapore/Germany/USA) and works on clinical and molecular diagnostics (NGS and qPCR-based) to advance precision medicine. 

Michael is the Founder of Ikxinta – Advisers in Health and Life Sciences in Singapore, Associate of the Biotech Development Conseils in Paris, Partner of Ryan-Kay Sarl in Switzerland, Partner of the Höppner Life Sciences Management Group, and Partner of the healthcare team of The Center For Innovation Commercialization LLC (CICL) in the US. Michael serves on the Advisory Board and Board of several biotech companies in the US, Europe and Asia.  Michael studied biochemistry (PhD in immunology) at the University of New South Wales (Sydney, Australia), at the University of Witten/Herdecke (Witten, Germany) and at Harvard Medical School (Boston, USA).

HANK TORBERT

Seasoned advisor functioning in the nexus of finance, strategy, innovation & operations within industrials and energy with special focus on how new technologies, such as artificial intelligence, robotics, nanotechnology, transmission technologies and synthetic biology, etc. are changing the industrial landscape and the implications on strategy and investment decisions. He is a Cofounder of the Frontier Conference of Industrial Technologies.

Mr. Torbert functions as both a corporate strategist for Boards of Directors and organizations in decision making around charting the path forward in a rapidly changing world and a private equity investor. My experience has ranged from early-stage to billion-dollar companies in the industrials, energy, media / technology, transportation and financial services sectors.

He currently serves as a Director at Midas Medici Group Holdings, Inc. since February 28, 2011. In addition, Mr. Torbert is currently on the Board of Directors of dLs Group and Consonus Technologies, Inc. He also has an active Director or Advisory role at Celeritas Management, Inc.  Hank  serves as a Director at Strive DC and Medstar Research Institute. He is a Trustee, Director, and Alumnus of The Taft School. Mr. Torbert speaks regularly at media industry seminars on venture capital and other investment-related topics and is a recipient of the Network Journal’s Top 40 Under 40 Award. He holds a Masters Degree in International Finance, an M.B.A., and a B.A. from Columbia University.

Arthur serves as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of British Far East Holdings Ltd.  He is an internationally recognized, innovative financier, financial educator, author, and inventor. He is the developer and patent holder for approaches for using royalties in the investor financing of privately-owned companies.

 

He Co-founded New York & Foreign Securities Corporation and served as its Chairman. He served as Chairman of the Arthur Lipper Corporation and international subsidiaries, both New York Stock Exchange member firms.  He has been a Trustee of the Kenan Institute of Private Enterprise of the Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina. He served as a Director of Micro Imaging Technology, Inc. He served as a Director of the National Schools Committee for Economic Education.

 

Arthur is the author of numerous financial and investment-related books and publications and has served as the Chairman, Publisher, and Editor-In-Chief of Venture Magazine. A seasoned technology and investments professional with a blend of business, technical and investment skills. Asish has strong knowledge and experience of all aspects of full lifecycle management of deal pipeline including sourcing, evaluating, transacting, and managing investments having been a partner at several leading Corp VC’s.

Ashish joined American Express Ventures in 2019 as a member of the company’s venture capital team. Prior to joining American Express, Ashish worked with IBM Ventures, focusing on strategic investments and partnerships within machine learning and enterprise software. Prior to IBM, he worked with Intel Capital focusing on growth stage investments. Ashish has also worked within product development and software engineering roles at Intel Corporation.

Ashish holds a Bachelor’s in Computer Engineering from the University of Mumbai, Master’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Toledo and an MBA from the University of California, Davis.

Lee is a serial entrepreneur with over 30 years of experience in the electronic payment and human capital management industries. In 1998 he was one of the founding members of B2BSoftware.com, one of the first web-based B2B Marketplaces to emerge from the tech boom. In 2009, Lee built Office Depot Merchant Services which he owned with Office Depot until the company’s sale in 2014 to a top ten US merchant processor. In addition to his start-up and exit experience, Lee has held senior positions with fortune 500 companies such as JPMorgan Chase, ADP and First Data. Lee’s core expertise is in the deployment of complex payment infrastructures and related product development from concept to pilot to full launch and distribution.

 

In addition to his professional experience, Lee sits on the Board of Directors of The Florida Fury Hockey Club (501c3) in South Florida that supports seven youth hockey teams with over 75 kids from 8 to 16 years of age.

BARRY SANDREW, PhD.

Advisory Board

An internationally recognized entrepreneur, expert in digital imaging, visual effects and augmented reality. Barry hold over 14 patents and 25 years of feature film and TV accomplishments including productions for all 6 major Hollywood studios and 3 major networks. Dr. Sandrew was the founder of 2 production studios that became gold standards for color visual effects. In 2000 he established and continues to remotely manage one of the first, longest operating and largest VFX studios in India.

 

Barry invented the first all-digital technology and process for colorizing black and white feature films. He subsequently founded American Film Technologies and produced colorized films for Fox Home Entertainment, Universal Pictures, Paramount, Sony, Japan’s Tsuburaya, BBC and several other major global media and distribution companies. He founded Legend Films in 2000 and after being introduced to digital 3D in 2007, Dr. Sandrew created a conversion process and pipeline that eventually became the gold standard of 3D conversion, an accomplishment that stands today.

LUIGI LICCIARDI, PhD.

Dr. Luigi Licciardi recently joined CICL Advisory Board focused on growing our global Telecom business. He was formerly VP, Head of Standards and Technology Disclosure in Telecom Italia Technology, focusing on coordinating the standardization activity of TIM both for Fixed and Mobile Technologies and involved in promoting and deploying Innovative Technologies in Telecom Italia Group.  He is also a member of the Technical Advisory Committee of Interdigital, where he is involved in identifying and suggesting advanced technologies and strategic initiatives. He joined Telecom Italia in 1984 and he was engaged in many responsibilities as Director and Vice President in R&D and Marketing (Mobile Handsets and Innovative solutions, Convergent Access Technologies, Industry Relations, System on Chip, Network Management, Switching Technologies). He was directly involved on LTE and LTE-A standardization and their deployment. He was a member of the NGMN Steering Committee of the 5G White paper, published at Mobile World Congress in 2015.

 

Luigi is a Board Director for ETSI, NGMN and OPNFV. He is Chairman of 5G IPR Forum.  He is an Executive Committee Member for TM Forum. Luigi has led many projects from the Marketing of global standards and Fora coordination, GSMA, deployment of Innovative solutions, due diligence and scouting of start-up companies.

Beth is the SVP and CIO for Maryland Life Casino. Formerly General Manager at Utility Integration Solutions, Inc. (UISOL), a GE Company. Beth has over 15 years of experience in the energy industry. Her focuses have been in information technology, business management and consulting services. In addition, she has worked in the financial services, education, and consulting arenas. 

 

Beth has over two decades of success creating collaborative and efficient environments in diverse organizations, including world-class Constellation Energy, Enron, and the Maryland State Department of Education reducing costs, streamlining workflow, fostering strategic objectives, and building the foundation for sustainable success.

 

Progressive career leading IT, Administration, and Operations groups as large as 1400 people and $500M budget.

BERNARD SLEDE

Bernard brings to CICL his expertise in sourcing and commercializing innovation and enterprise technologies globally. Based in Silicon Valley for 20 years, Mr. Slede has been a successful agent of change throughout the innovation ecosystem, as an entrepreneur, a corporate innovation leader, a venture capitalist, a board member and an experienced business development negotiator. He has helped large corporations across many sectors become more innovative and identify and partner with emerging technology leaders.

 

At ease in both corporate and startup environments, he has driven agreements worth over $250M between emerging companies and corporations such as Microsoft, Intel, Netgear and Orange.

 

As a corporate venture capitalist and the founder of HP Startup Central, he built strong relationships with innovation ecosystem pillars including leading corporate technology peers and VC firms. While in that role, he worked closely with Hewlett Packard's business groups to identify and engage with emerging technology vendors based on new trends.

 

Bernard was named one of Startup America’s top 5 individual Champions after attended the launch event at the White House. He received an Export Prize from Accenture.

CARL FREMONT

A visionary professional with the wealth of real-time experience including data, customer acquisition, CRM, Mar/Ad tech enablement and a unique ability to oversee the creation and execution of integrated marketing campaigns that build brands while generating demand and sales pipelines.

Carl is a passionate leader in the industry and is a frequent speaker and consultant on the transformations occurring in digital and technology; often quoted in the press for his views on the future of marketing and media. Carl has extensive marketing and media experience in a multitude of brand categories including automotive, financial services, consumer package goods, retail, eCommerce, pharmaceutical, telecommunications and travel.

 

Carl was the Global Chief Digital Officer at Wavemaker. Prior to Wavemaker, Carl held executive roles at Digitas and Wunderman.

 

He serves on the advisory boards of a select number of technologies, media and venture capital companies as well as consults with the IAB. Carl has also served as the Chairperson of the Ad Club, the oldest industry organization. He has also served as its lead for the I’m Part Media Action, which since its inception has raised over $10MM (US) for scholarships and training for diversity talent in the Marketing and Communications fields.  Carl is a contributor to a book on Transitional Media published in 2014.

KBS created the first pop-up store and was a pioneer in guerrilla media and word of mouth marketing.  Jon later became CEO Big Fuel (now part of Publicis); helped the agency grow from 30 people to 180 in 18 months and become the world’s second-largest social media agency. 

Jon is currently the Chairman of Sito Mobile (NASDAQ). A location-based data and media company operating in the ad technology space.

He is considered and expert in manufacturing, logistics, supply chain, retail and information technology, having worked in companies such as McLaren, Union Carbide, ExxonMobil, HP, Three2N, Microsoft, VF Corp, Capgemini,  Alumax in North America, Latin America, Europe and Asia, managing country, region and global business and technology programs. At Microsoft, Alex was the GM Latin America and Canada and former CIO of VF Corp Asia.

 

Recently he spent two years in Hong Kong restructuring a technology business and managing Asia Pacific. He frequently speaks in industry events about how technology can enable strong business performance

SIMEON SESSLEY

Simeon has spent most of his career actively influencing the quality of healthcare.  Simeon recently became an advisor to Walmart in assisting Walmart with its screening, acceleration and implementation of innovative start-up health care technologies for Walmart’s growing health care business. 

 

Simeon was formerly the VP Navicent Health’s Center For Disruption & Innovation where he worked hard to prepare the culture at Navicent Health for the changes taking place in healthcare, prior to its acquisition by Atrium Health. 

 

Simeon was previously a VP at GE Healthcare.

MARK O'HARA

Advisory Board

Mark has over 25 years’ experience within the Sales and Marketing function, he has built start-ups from the ground upwards and also directed Global Sales and Marketing operations for billion-dollar companies.  He has a wealth of experience within Telecommunications and FMCG with an in-depth knowledge of consumer psychology and buying behavior.

 

Mark’s reach of distribution networks across the globe provide a platform for commercialization for many software and product-based solutions and he has assisted companies with their strategy for roll out into many markets. 

 

More recently he has worked on smart city solutions and is currently rolling initiatives out into various cities and facilities worldwide.  His background in the MVNO space has enabled the contacts to deliver solutions speedily and cost-effectively across the globe.

BILL GORDEN

Vice President, Global Head of Commercial Notebook Product Management at HP. Bill is former C level at Motorola and Dell.  Bill’s expertise is in sourcing, product design, go to market, product launch and management, which he previously did for Dell and Motorola.

 

Bill has been involved with a number of projects including NFC Wearable Technologies: provided road-mapping, industry insights and developed partner trials for biometric (UV exposure, bilirubin detection) and access control use cases/applications along with negotiating funding to support the trials and business activities; Smart Watch Program: created product specification, negotiated ODM agreement, developed key software partnerships and put together schedule and key milestone targets; Consumer Financing Advisory To A Financial Services Company: focused advisory on operations, marketing, brick-n-mortar development, mobile strategies, website development, regulatory & compliance, and general business consulting.
